Azurite is an ore of copper, and the Copper Queen mine was a prodigious producer of this mineral. The largest column is 9 cm high, and the green base is malachite. Although displayed in this configuration for esthetic reasons, the column actually grew downward from the malachite roof of a pocket in the ore deposit.
