B. K. S. Iyengar teaching Yoga to Yehudi Menuhin at Nehru's Residence

In this photograph Yehudi Mehunin contorts his body to form the Shirshasana (headstand) at Jawaharlal Nehru’s residence. Yogacharya B. K. S. Iyenger, the founder of Iyenger yoga, is standing behind his legs supporting and possibly correcting the posture. The working table with a rotary dial phone and a contemporary-styled lamp in the background suggest that this could be a study room. Yehudi Menuhin, an American-born British violinist, was invited to India in 1952 by Jawaharlal Nehru with the intention to expose Indians to musicians from across the world.
