Untitled No. 11

Juana Francés1959

IAACC Pablo Serrano

IAACC Pablo Serrano
Zaragoza, Spain

A composition with a central motif resembling a material explosion of sand on a strewn white against a black background, located in the center but shifted slightly to the right, through which the artist further emphasizes the shocking effect of the painting and its gestuality and dramatism, as well as the immediacy of its creation. There is also a great effect created by the contrast between light and dark. All this is achieved with chromatic contrasts based in pure light: black and white, with grayish-brown sands or burlap as their potential midpoint, which can natively be seen at some points. The piece belongs to his second era known as Abstraction and Informalism, understood to be from 1956–1963.
