The Bactrian and Indo Greek Coins began to be issued from Circa. 250 BC. when Diodotus became independent from Selencid Empire. The Indo Bactrian rulers were initially ruling in Bactria which later extended upto India. Till to date around 45 Kings are known through their coinage.
The Coins of Greek rulers were Attic Standard and die-struck. The coins of earlier rulers such as Diodotus, Eucratides, Euthydemus, shows a high artistic standard; the realistic depiction of the royal portraits in refined manner.
The reverse of all the Greek Coins bear the figure of a Greek deity as well as name and title of the King, alongwith a monogram. The coins underwent a visible change once these were issued from India, such as weight, size, specially artistic quality.
