For reasons of fire safety, baking houses were usually standalone structures. The Baking Hous from Arget was formerly part of the Garner farm (Municipality Sauerlach, County of Munich). Up to 17 individuals lived on the Garner farm in the 1930s. In order to feed them, the farmer's wife baked approximately 20 loaves of bread every 10 to 14 days, with each loaf weighing 1.5 to 2.0 kilos.
