Balıkçılar/Fishermen

“C. Dereli 1965” imzalı Balıkçılar tablosunda, balıkçılar denizde ağ çekerken betimlenmiştir. Gün ağarmamıştır henüz ancak gökyüzünde ara ara görülen beyaz bulutlar aydan ışık alıyor olmalıdır.
Yalçın bir dağ, resimde tüm yalınlığıyla, tek katlı evleri, küçük camisi, ahşap iskelesi ve kıyıdaki ağaçlıklı kahvesiyle yansıtılan dağın eteğindeki kıyı kasabasını adeta kucaklamış gibidir. Ressamın abartısız hatta soluk renkleri gece atmosferiyle uyum sağlar.

In the painting Fishermen, signed "C. Dereli 1965", fishermen are depicted pulling in their nets at sea. Dawn has not yet broken, but the scattered white clouds in the sky appear to be illuminated by the moonlight. A steep mountain dominates the background, seemingly embracing the coastal town nestled at its foot — with its single-story houses, small mosque, wooden pier, and a tree-shaded coffeehouse by the shore. The artist’s restrained, even muted color palette harmonizes with the nighttime atmosphere.
