Bamburgh Castle is a huge castle situated on a volcanic outcrop on the north-east coast of England. It was the site of a Celtic fort, which was taken over by the Anglo-Saxons and destroyed by Vikings in 933. Much of the stone castle dates from the 12th century, including its impressive keep. Extensive restoration and rebuilding took place between 1894 and 1904.
