The Bank of Restriction note was created as a protest against the severity of the anti-forgery laws, which remained a capital punishment until 1832. The note was created by artist George Cruikshank and is decorated with skulls, gibbets and a hangman's noose and signed by Jack Ketch, the public executioner.
