Baroness Valerie Amos

Baroness Amos was made a Labour peer in 1997, and became Secretary of State for International Development in 2003, and then Leader of the Lords in the same year. She was then made UN under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs, and the UK’s High Commissioner to Australia.
