Name of the film explains it all. Raju, the son of a wealthy widower who is extremely devoteed and respectful of his stepmother (Laxmi) who marries his father just for the money. She raised his step son Raju to be naive and uneducated. As he grows old, she keeps him away from his father whom she potrays to be mentally sick and ends up locking him in a room away from the family. At a village fair Raju meets Saraswati, falls in love with her and then later marries her. Saraswati, after living with her step mother-in-law for a few months, learns the reason behind her intentions and that the motherly love for Raju is fake. She then begins to clash with her and decides to reveal her true identity.
