Betty Dalgleish Golf Bag

Betty Dalgleish was a trailblazer in golf and women's sport.

A champion amateur, she represented Tasmania, New South Wales and Australia on numerous occasions. She won the Australian Amateur Championship in 1968. When told she was 'too old' at 40 to be selected for national duties again, Betty turned professional becoming Australia's first female resident professional golfer.

She was elected first president of the Ladies Professional Golf Association in 1972, won its first tournament and represented Australia again in 1979, 1980 and 1981. Betty Dalgleish was inducted into the Tasmanian Sporting Hall of Fame in 1994.
