• Title: Bhangra Dancers
• Date: 2010
• Story: Energy. Movement. Rhythm. Color. Kathak. Odissi. Bharatanatyam … Bhangra! There is nothing quite like Indian dance, both classical and popular. Incorporating centuries-old stories and movements with dazzling flourishes of rhythm and music, it has no comparison. America has embraced Bollywood dance in Olympic figure skating, flash mobs, and the television series Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance? But the real carriers of these visually stunning traditions are Indian Americans, for whom dance is part of a cultural identity passed on through generations via collegiate dance teams, dance academies, and, most popularly, Indian weddings.
