The Elizabeth Tower or Clock Tower is commonly known as Big Ben. It is located at the Palace of Westminster, or the Houses of Parliament. Big Ben is actually the name of the great bell in the clock tower. The clock started on 31 May 1859, with Big Ben's strikes first heard on 11 July.
