"Aves sin nido" ("Birds without nest") is the first novel published by the writer Clorinda Matto de Turner (Cusco, 1852 - Buenos Aires, 1909). In this, the author denounces the abuse and humiliation suffered by indigenous peasants by both the authorities and the clergy. Using the imaginary town of Killac as a setting, the author tells the story of two young people who see their love for the immoral acts of others frustrated. However, the novel has a clear social and political character, where the figure of the indigenous person and the woman take leading roles, pointing out the injustices of society.
