All major game manufacturers produced sport-themed board games. Sports such as baseball, and later football, continued to gain popularity among the American public over the years. Board games that duplicated or replicated sports play sold well. McLoughlin Brothers of New York produced several versions of baseball board games during the firm's peak of success in the late 19th century. This particular example is a simplified version.
