Some games in the 1990s incorporated mechanical action or some other kind of clever gimmick to complicate otherwise standard play. Tornado Rex, made by Parker Brothers in 1991, utilized a wind-up top to simulate a tornado, rolling down a mountain path and potentially knocking off the hikers racing to the top. A game primarily intended for younger children, Tornado Rex drew favorable reviews from some adults who admired its simplicity and its novelty.
