Austin, Texas artist Billy Perkins has been designing rock posters, CD packages and other graphics for over 20 years. A self-taught illustrator, Perkins learned to draw as a child by studying classic comic book art, album covers and psychedelic rock posters of the late 1960's. The tagline "Good Ideas Thru Bad Living" was born in 1992, when Perkins became a freelancer after serving 2 years as Art Director for Austin's largest screen print shop. Since then, he has designed posters and CD packages for bands such as Van Halen, Cheech & Chong, Cheap Trick, Arcangels, Alice in Chains, The Black Crowes, The Kills, Patti Smith, Slayer and many, many more. Billy Perkins' work has appeared in several books and publications, including Art Of Modern Rock, Swag 2, Gigposters: Rock Art of the 21st Century, Classic Rock Magazine and more. Education: BFA in Commercial Art from Texas State University. He is a member of the board of directors of the South Austin Popular Culture Center.
