These dainty satin boots may have belonged to Queen Victoria (1819-1901). They were probably worn inside for dancing, and they are very worn-out at the sole.

Victoria loved music and enjoyed dancing. Silk boots in a contrasting colour were fashionable, and they would peep out from under the dancer's skirt. They are fastened discretely with laces on the inside so as not to diminish the overall effect of the shiny silk.
