Even after the end of Gurkha rule, the area retained strong ties with Nepal, and a community near this village was populated by Nepalese traders who migrated to the area. As such, Bora culture is strongly influenced by Nepal, and some in the village have posited that their hemp traditions may have originated from these Nepalese traders.
