Migration Museum
Adelaide, Australia

This banner is part of the museum's Community Banners project, 'Memories and Dreams'. It is symbolic of Bosnian immigrants' experiences in South Australia.
Designed to depict the two homelands at the two ends of the world, the foreground depicts scenes from the homeland Bosnia with cities and country sides; across the lower edge is a band showing people at work underneath which is a band which imitates the hand-made rugs, with a white cotton fringe. Painted tombstones as witnesses of past centuries have been applied. Olympic symbols recall the winter olympics held in Sarajevo.
Above this is the broad ocean that they crossed, a headland with a light house at Port Adelaide, the sun setting in the west and the southern cross in the sky.
