İstanbul, Türkiye

The red paste bowl is an example of the so-called “Miletus ware”. It has a lat rim and ring foot. All of the inside and half of the
outside surfaces are covered with an off-white slip and transparent glaze. It is decorated underglaze in cobalt blue. Inside the bowl is a circular medallion containing a six-pointed star, at the centre of which is a rosette, with half-rosettes between the points of the star. Around the cavetto are bands of vertical radial lines alternating with quadruple knot motifs. A stylised meander frieze runs
around the inside rim. The outside of the bowl is undecorated. The glaze on the inside of the bowl has worn away in places.
