A ceramic bowl covered with a white slip and transparent glaze. The sole decoration on a white background is an Arabic inscription in black and a stylized flower in the centre. The inscription is benedictory in the Kufic script: “Blessings and joy to the owner”. The bowl belongs to a type of pottery typical of the Samanid workshops in eastern Iran.
