BOXING DAY

On Boxing Day there were more festivities:

“26th of Dec. Went to the museum. On our return we packed our bags. In the evening Consul-General Östberg invited all the Swedes for dinner, I was also invited. After dinner the hotel had a ball. The dinner was very jolly, the mood here has in general been good.

“At 10pm we went down to the ballroom which was situated in a pavilion. The walkways were covered with canvas so that it would not get too chilly late in the evening. Everything was very beautifully organised with multi-coloured electric lights. The rooms were decorated in the Venetian style. There was dancing in the great hall. We arrived home at 1am.”
