Some artifacts had very long lives before finding a home in the Fort Vancouver collection. This brick is believed to be Roman, looted from a ruin in Great Britain and sent to the New World in a shipment of fresh bricks. Perhaps more amazingly, it appears that a kitten in Roman Britain walked across the clay while it was still wet, leaving its footprints in the finished piece.
