The painting shows a bride in a folk costume with a bunch on the head, which is flat stylized to the system of geometric shapes and ornaments. The image combines modernist principles and elements of folk art by which was Fulla often inspired in his work. This is the first image variations theme, which the author elaborated in several preparatory studies and in other image form.
Ľudovít Fulla played a key role in the process of a birth of modern art in Slovakia and he is one of its most significant figures. Painting Bride from 1947 is one of the remarkable examples of his painter's work from the peak period. There are reflected all features of his artistic approach - synthesis of modern expression and a folk creativity, flat stylization, saturated colours and decorativeness. Thanks to the exceptional artistic paintings quality and the position of the author in the context of history to this masterpiece in the context of exposure belongs a special position.
