Portrait of a girl seated on an art nouveau style table, who is reclining and supported by her mistress or nanny, who is sitting and wearing a simple dress. There is not a very clear relationship between the girl and the nanny or mistress since the girl's expression denotes looking at someone or something outside the frame, while the mistress fixes her gaze on the camera. The nursemaids were people who were dedicated to the care and upbringing of infants. In Lima, the city where this photograph was taken, this work used to be done by Afro-descendant women, although in this case it is done by a mestiza.
