Brocade with Lace Design

China National Silk Museum

China National Silk Museum
Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China

The fabric consists of a dual color lace pattern (with a 1:1 ratio of green to white). The ground weave of the lining is green with a beige and green pattern, while other colored areas are made using a swivel weave. The entire woven floral pattern is quite long (42.2 cm). This is a typical example of an early 18th century pattern commonly used in clothing and furnishings at the time.
