This is the traditional material used by the Dais' to make clothing and bedcovers. It is popular in Xishuangbanna and Dehong. In Xishuangbanna cloth is woven with pure cotton yarn in white, red and black., and is decorated with a variety patterns depicting peacocks, horses, dragons, phoenixes, elephants, towers, temples and bamboo houses, usually in intricate symmetrical motifs. In Dehong cloth can be made of cotton or silk with bold colors. The black brocade is usually decorated with geometric patterns in red, green, yellow and blue geometric patterns.
