Broke at last is a work by the American artist Raymond Pettibon (Arizona, United States, 1957). A counter-cultural icon, punk hero and prolific visual artist, Raymond Pettibon has spent four decades creating his distinctive, politically charged works of art. Pettibon’s ink drawings analyse all aspects of American culture, from art, literature and sports to religion, politics and sexuality. Images are often combined with text, either borrowed or original, and his works feature figures from American popular culture replete with surfers, baseball players, or portraits of well-known figures, such as Charles Manson, Kennedy, and Marilyn Monroe.
