Initially, BTX pages were visible on a TV. In the mid-1980s, the BTX service was available at local and regional rates. The standard speed for transferring data from the switchboard to the BTX device is 1200 bits per second, but only 75 bits per second the other way round. The telephone line was busy while BTX was in use. This TV was used by the Bundespost for demonstration purposes in the 1980s.
