Bud Gardner (left), with the Florida Space Research Institute, and U.S. Representative Dave Weldon (right) pose with John Winn, who accepted the Explorer award presented to the Canaveral Council of Technical Societies by the Florida Space Business Roundtable for outstanding contributions to Florida’s space industry. The dinner kicked off the annual Space Congress, held April 28-May 1, 2003, in Cape Canaveral, Fla. The theme for the event was “Linking the Past to the Future: A Celebration of Space” and commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Kennedy Space Center and the Centennial of Flight.
