Mercedes Cabello Llona de Carbonera (Moquegua, 1842 - Lima, 1909) was a Peruvian writer and intellectual, representative of Peruvian female essayism. She cultivated the genres of essay, novel and poetry. She wrote on various topics, including feminist themes, writing and literature, and philosophical reflections. She published in different national and international press media, and in some cases she signed under a pseudonym. Cabello advocated for equality between women and men, and for the education of women. Her work as a writer received awards, as well as provoked enmity.
