Byzantine Bath

Paleochristian and Byzantine Monuments of Thessalonika1988

UNESCO World Heritage

UNESCO World Heritage

It is the only public bath of the Mid-Byzantine era still preserved today in Greece and one of the few remaining secular buildings of that era. Its construction started in 1300 BC and the bath remained in use until 1940 (approximately seven centuries), for this reason the monument is considered a “living” part of the city’s social history.
