This issue of the French film magazine "Cahiers du Cinéma" features a special focus on the philosopher Gilles Deleuze and his relationship with cinema, including articles exploring how his concepts relate to the art form. The magazine also includes an in-depth look at the work of director Benoît Jacquot through articles on his films "La Fille Seule" and "Marianne," as well as an interview with the director. A retrospective is offered on the work of filmmaker Chantal Akerman, examining her approach to narrative, as well as an in-depth consideration of the "Albatros" film studio of the 1920s. Furthermore, the magazine delves into the cinematic theories of colour, the history of the Lumière brothers and their role in French cinema, plus articles on the topic of how to become a filmmaker and the increasing link between cinema and the multimedia, plus a focus on the work of photographers Carole Bellaïche and Michèle Sylvander. In addition, the magazine contains reviews of current film releases, including "Le Ballon blanc," "Prête à tout," "Crooklyn" and "Clockers," amongst others and includes some personal opinions of a well-known cinephile, Luc Moullet.
