"I am a Inupiaq artist. I have been carving for 35 years now. I was 9 when I started. I have been pretty busy. When I was in correspondence camp school, I started to learn. There was a lot of kids in the camp. I make ulus, or what people order. I have sent orders as far as France. I make most of my work from Mastodon ivory, we get it about 45-50 miles down the coast." — Carl Henry Jr. is Inupiaq and lives in Kotzebue, Alaska.
