Born in Linares (Jaén), Carmen Linares has earned herself a privileged place in contemporary Spanish musical culture, becoming one of the most celebrated and internationally renowned flamenco artists. She began her artistic training in the 1970s, studying with veterans such as Pepe Matrona, Fosforito and Juan Varea at the Torres Bermejas and Café de Chinitas tablaos in Madrid. He also shared the stage with young talents such as Camarón, Enrique Morente and the Habichuela brothers. He has received awards such as the Music Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement, the Gold Medal of Fine Arts, the National Music Award, the Compás del Cante, the Silver Medal of the Junta de Andalucía, the French Academy of Records Award and the ICARO Award.
