This picturesque rockwork incorporates a cascade and grotto. It was built in 1785-7 to designs by the Hon. C Hamilton and J Lane and is sited at the head of a lake created by famed landscape designer Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. Water falls over a series of rock shelves formed on an embankment that has a serpentine tunnel passing through. The tunnel path rises and emerges above the cascade.
