The crown prince's fondness for the English way of life and architecture and a trip to England in 1911 probably prompted the construction of a country house in the Tudor style. However, there is no direct model for Cecilienhof Palace; instead, only the typical facade elements such as gables, bay windows, chimneys and ornamental chimneys were adopted and traditional materials such as wood, pebble plaster and brick were used.
