The Narcissus Fountain, designed by Hubert Netzer for the Prinzenhof in 1930, depicts the story of Narcissus. Narcissus, as he is known in Greek mythology, is depicted sitting on the edge of the fountain. A nymph fell in love with him, but as he rejected her affections, Nemesis and Aphrodite became angry. As punishment, fate made him see his own reflection in a spring as he bent down to drink. He fell madly in love with it - so much so that he died and was eventually transformed into a daffodil.
