In the centre of the ceiling painting is a seated woman, dressed in red, with a book and a set of scales. With her mantle she covers and protects two sleeping children. She is surrounded by flying birds and frolicking putti.
Additional information:
The woman is the personification of Guardianship. The colour of her clothing is that of love and of charity. Her care ensures the children’s safety. The scales and the volume (an account book) show that the members of the Chamber deal justly with the assets of the orphans in their care.
