Lisboa, Portugal

Portuguese national treasure built by António Stradivari. It is the only instrument with the signature of the renowned luthier in Portugal, built with the famous 'B' shape, used during his golden period, from 1707 to 1726. This cello belonged to King D. Luis I (1838-1889) of Portugal, who acquired it for its collection in 1878. It belonged previously to the Belgian cellist, Pierre Chevillard (1811-1877). Precisely for this reason, it is known as "Chevillard - King of Portugal".
