Having worked for some local magazines and the Information Services Department of the HKSAR Government, John Choy is now a freelance photographer. He took part in group exhibitions like “Imaging Hong Kong: Contemporary Photography Exhibition” (2008) and “Light and Shade: Life Passé in Old Estates Photo and Video Exhibition” (2009). Infrared photography is John Choy's favourite medium to capture the old trees that are still standing in various parts of Hong Kong. The desolate branches, pallid leaves and sombre scenery create an eerie, illusive and barren feeling transcending time and space. They are his warning messages to us to reflect on the urban environment, society and life.
