Made of carved wood, alabaster and decorated with inlaid sea shells, this ceremonial goblet shows the figure of a kneeling priest bearing a beaker in his hand. Because of the quality of the piece, similar to other pieces of the late style of the Northern Coast, it may be assumed that it was produced in the workshop of specialized craftspeople in charge of producing cult paraphernalia during the height of the Chimú society in its capital city, Chan Chan.
