The Order of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Army, dated April 28, 1964, declared this rifle regulation due to the improvements made since Model B. A 7.62 mm (0.3") NATO caliber, it was not distributed to the command posts until 1968, and originally was an adapted Model B. In the 1980s, the L and LC models began to be distributed to the Army, but given their high cost and the good condition in which the Civil Guard had kept the CETME C, this replacement was not made within the corps.
