Kuelap is a Chachapoya ceremonial center in the omonimous region in Peru which was subject to fire and destruction during Inca times in the 15th century, as archeology evidences. Using a torch and an indigenous inhabitant the author recreates one of the last drammatic moments of life on the site. The man is depicted jumping from one point to another in a combat attitude and expressing the desperation of a last gesture. The combination of fire and clouds dematerializes the body of the worrior, who becomes a representation of a spririt expressed by the presence of the stone. The essence of the image is summarized in the word Chachapoya which means "cloud warriors".
