Gustaf Stafhell was one of the Capital’s most employed and highly thought of goldsmiths. Whenever someone in High Society wanted a gift or a fancy object they turned to the artist Stafhell. After the wedding between Countess Margareta Bonde and Count Abraham Brahe in 1717 Stafhell made a chalice and paten for their private communion. It was not unusual for a noble family to have a house priest and to celebrate private services. An older box for the communion wafers was added to the chalice and paten.
