The character Pinocchio is originally from an 1883 children's novel. In 1940, Disney developed a film version of the character. Pinocchio is a wooden puppet who is magically brought to live, but longs to be a real boy. In 1947 the Gund Manufacturing Company began a long-lasting partnership with Walt Disney Productions, creating plush figures of popular characters like Mickey Mouse and Minnie, Donald Duck, Daisy, and Donald's three nephews, Snow White, Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp, Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, and others. These days, Gund offers soft toys of more recent Disney movies like "The Aristocats," "Monsters, Inc.," and "Cars."
