Charlotte Lynn Williams (née Mayes)

Charlotte Lynn Williams (née Mayes) was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, on October 31, 1965. Williams’s paternal great-grandparents, Joseph and Mattie Mayes, along with Julius Caesar Lane, led a group of Black families in 1910 from Oklahoma to Maidstone, Saskatchewan. In Maidstone, they settled and helped build the Shiloh Baptist Church. Mattie Mayes was renowned as a midwife in the Eldon district.
