Apparently grotesque Triangular head, a surprisingly wide mouth, a long tubular nose, tiny eyes, many tubercles and flaps of flesh sticking on the sides. No other turtle is so bizarre and unique as Chelus fimbriatus, Mata mata. This turtle lives in shallow waters, where its nose can easily reach the surface to breath. The original variety of the Matamata is widespread in North and South America.
