A group of children on board a train en route to a children’s orphanage in Ecouis, France. They were recently liberated from the Buchenwald concentration camp on April 11, 1945. In France they would be transferred to various children's homes for a few months before immigrating to Palestine. A portion of the children were cared for by the Oeuvre de Secours aux Enfants (OSE), a French Jewish humanitarian organization, which was supported by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.
